VIRTUAL PRODUCTION SCHOOL (Copenhagen)

VP SCHOOL: PRODUCTION WORKSHOP / 4 - 8 MARCH

 
NTA Film & TV are excited to collaborate with FILMWORKSHOP / COPENHAGEN, Nordisk Film Foundatiom, AAU Copenhagen and Ardán to fund two Irish participants to attend the renowned VIRTUAL PRODUCTION SCHOOL: PRODUCTION WORKSHOP in Copenhagen.
 
The VP-school's Production Workshop is for Directors, Photographers, Editors, Lighting People/Gaffers, Set Designers/Production Designers, 3D artists, Actors and Producers 

Exploring the latest Virtual Production workflows, at this 5-day workshop, you will work hands-on based on your own experience / work area. 
 
You will be divided into a film team and where you will assume the role of your usual position but collaborate to create "Final-Pixels-in-Camera" and "In-Camera-VFX" scenes with virtual 3D locations as backgrounds. 
 
No technical prerequisites are required, as an experienced technical team is on board. 
 
The Producer Workshop and the Production Workshop are both part of the VP-SCHOOL, which is a project that has received support from the Nordisk Film Foundation. 
 
Based on the newly established rear projection studio at AAU, the project aims to introduce and train the talent team in the many aspects of the production form: budget, planning, production of backgrounds and effects, acting, photography and mastering. 

Instructors: Aishah Hussai and Mathias Ramsø Thomsen from Amunet Studio, Henrik Schønau Fog from AAU and Technical Manager from the Film Workshop Anders Bonde 
 
Please note that this workshop takes place at AAU - Department of Architecture, Design and Media Technology: A.C Meyers Vænge 15, 2450 Copenhagen. 

 
 
Five Day Programme:


 
Monday 4 March 9.30-16.00 / Day 1: Demonstration – Planning – Preparation.


Tuesday 5 March 9.30-16.00 / Day 2: Planning and preparation continued. 


Wednesday 6 March 9.30-16.00 / Day 3: Ready for Recording 


Thursday 7 March 9.30-16.00 / Day 4: Recording 


Friday 8 March 9.30-16.00 / Day 5; Editing – Viewing – Discussion and evaluation

Dates/Duration: 
4th – 8th March 9.30-16.00 daily at AAU at A.C. Meyers Vænge 15, 2450 Copenhagen.  
 
Deadline to apply: Thur 15th Feb at noon.  

 
Who Can Apply: 

Directors and producers who meet the following criteria are welcome to apply

  • Directors and producers must be habitually resident in the regions (outside Dublin/Wicklow) or who identify as diverse (please see our Diversity & Inclusion Policy)  
  • Applicants must have a demonstrable level of relevant experience and interest in VP.  
  • Applicants must have previously directed or produced at least two short films. And/or feature film and/or soap and/or several high-end commercials.
  • And/or have worked in the Production Department across multiple projects with a clear interest in developing a career as a director or producers .  

Applicants must be 18+ and out of full-time education

  • Media CV – detailing relevant experience.  

  • A Personal Statement detailing how this initiative will progress your career and relevant experience and interest in VP. (up to 2 pages or filmed statement of up to 3 minutes)  

The NTA Film & Television will cover course fee, flights to and from Copenhagen and will supply accommodation from 3th – 9th of March.

Selection Process: 

The applications will be assessed by a panel to include representatives of the National Talent Academy for Film & Television, and independent external assessors.  

Selected applicates will be notified by Wed 21st of February.
