The National Talent Academy Film & TV and Keeper Pictures are taking applications from emerging directors from Kerry and Cork who are interested in being a Shadow Director. 
 
WHITETAIL is a Dutch/Irish/Belgian co-production that will shoot on the Beara Peninsula in counties Kerry and Cork, and we want to hear from emerging Directors who are from and/or are based locally in the area.  
 
This feature film will begin production on April 29th 2024 and with a Shadow Director placement for five weeks across the shoot.

WHITETAIL tells the story of JEN MCCARTHY, and when her old boyfriend OSCAR returns to her small town in southern Ireland, she is forced to face the tragedy that marked them for life. 

Shadow Director requirements: Full Clean Driving Licence.  
Locations: Beara Peninsula - Kerry/Cork  
 

Who can apply: 

WHITETAIL will shoot on the Beara Peninsula in Kerry and Cork, and we want to hear from emerging Directors who are from either county and/or are based locally.  

Directors must meet the below requirements and credits and/or a demonstrable level of relevant experience 

  • Applicants must be from either county and/or are based Kerry and Cork. 

  • Applicants must be 18+ and out of full time education

  • Applicants who have previously directed at least two live action-drama short films and/or episodes of a soap and/or several high-end commercials or music videos with a clear interest in developing a career in feature films 

Note that applications from more experienced Directors from other fields (e.g. Documentary) who are looking to build on their body of work and move into a television drama or feature drama may also be considered.

  • Media CV – detailing relevant experience.  

  • A Personal Statement detailing how this initiative will progress your career (up to 2 pages or filmed statement of up to 3 minutes) 

  • Showreel (if available & not compulsory)

Deadline to apply: Friday March 1st at 12 noon. 

 

 

Selection Process: 

The applications will be assessed by a panel to include representatives of the National Talent Academy for Film & Television, and Keeper Pictures  

A selection of applicants will be invited for an interview.  
 

Interviewees will include shadows who have applied to be part of the NTAFT database, this will include regional talent/talent based outside of Dublin & Wicklow.  

This call out is to supplement the talent already registered on the database. 
 

 

Further Information:  

Shadows will be given a bursary to cover their time in the training placement.
