Inclusive Production Practices for Producers with EAVE

Inclusive Production Practices for Producers with EAVE

NTA Film & TV and EAVE present a new three-day online training course on Inclusive Production Practices for Producers.

EAVE, European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, is one of Europe’s leading producer training programmes, with a unique global network of over 2,900 producers to date. Working with an international network of partners, EAVE delivers programmes for producers around the world. Founded in 1988, its core objectives are to provide high-quality professional training opportunities and to bring together producers from different regions to foster meaningful co-production relationships.

This course is a hands-on, values-driven training program for live-action producers seeking to embed equity, inclusion, and ethical practice across the full production lifecycle.

From development through distribution, participants will gain concrete tools to embed equity into every aspect of their work – challenging systemic inequities, navigating inclusive co-productions, building fair contracts and accountability structures, and adopting care- centered, community-informed approaches to storytelling, financing, and collaboration.

Course Profile:

The online sessions will take place on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th 2026.

Each session will be approximately 2 hours long.

Sample daily timeline:
10:00 – 12:00 Session One
12:00 – 13:00 Break
13:00 – 15:00 Session Two

Across the three days, we will host six sessions, with guest speakers covering the following topics:

  • Positionality & Power in Producing

A self-reflective session exploring how identity, privilege, and social position shape the roles, relationships, and influence of producers and key creatives. Participants will map their own positionality in relation to their project and examine how to apply principles of an equitable creative process.

  • Developing with an Inclusive Lens

This session positions the development phase as a critical stage for embedding equity, care, and intentionality into the creative process—ensuring that the project vision and pathway to production are clear, transparent, and inclusive. Participants will explore care-based development frameworks, including collaborative story design and consent-driven research, to create a strong roadmap from concept to production.

  • Financing & Budgeting for Inclusion

Here we will introduce inclusive budgeting tools and financing strategies that promote equity across the production lifecycle. Topics include fair compensation and practical approaches to building budgets that reflect shared ownership, transparency, and community benefit. It will also address navigating currency imbalances in international co-productions.

  • Co-Productions with Equity in Mind

During this session, we will explore how to build co-productions that uphold creative equity, financial fairness, shared IP ownership, and equitable revenue participation—particularly across regions with differing resources or systemic advantages. Participants will examine strategies for negotiating fair terms, drafting inclusive contracts, and navigating legal frameworks that support respectful, transparent, and sustainable collaboration.

  • Inclusive Production Practices

This plenary offers practical guidance for managing productions across diverse cultural and geographic contexts. It covers inclusive hiring, cross-cultural crew coordination, and ethical casting. Participants will also explore safer set protocols, power-sharing approaches, culturally sensitive scheduling, and inclusive catering practices. Production and post-production workflows that prioritise access, consent, and psychological safety will also be addressed.

  • Equity in Distribution & Audience Engagement

Lastly, this discussion focuses on designing distribution strategies that centre equity, access, and cultural relevance. Participants will explore festival and grassroots pathways, language accessibility, and co-created rollout plans. The session also examines ethical approaches to sharing distribution rights, territories, and revenue across co-producing partners, with an emphasis on avoiding extractive models and engaging communities as collaborators.
