Course Profile:
The aim of this training programme is to provide a basic understanding of what skills and knowledge is required in the role of news gathering for broadcasters. Newsgathering is a unique discipline within the television world and requires operators to shoot, edit and deliver completed news packages as well as providing live inserts to news bulletins. Learning will be through ‘real life ‘scenarios for participants to see the challenges that can arise and learn the skills to overcome them.

This course is limited to 12 Participants.
Participants need to be confident in producing good quality camerawork, sound, editing and the ability to go live from anywhere.
Work Placement Opportunities: There may be work placement opportunities with teams who supply ENG packages to RTE, TG4 & Virgin Media.

Tutor Profile:
Ken Fogarty & Dave Fenwick, between them, have nearly 50 years of newsgathering experience at home and abroad. They have worked for all of the domestic broadcast services in Ireland as well as Associated Press, BBC, Sky News, ITN, ABC, NBC, France 24, RAI and many other international services. They also provide OB, GFX and Live TX facilities as well as shoot, edit and live streaming services.
