Tar éis na seisiúin aiseolais, iarrfar ar na rannpháirtithe dréacht 2 den script a sheoladh isteach.

Céim 2 - Scríbhneoireacht faoi Oiliúint

Tar éis dréacht 2 de na scripteanna a bheith seolta isteach, déanfar anailís orthu, agus tabharfar deis  do roinnt rannpháirtithe  bogadh ar aghaidh agus oibriú mar scríbhneoirí faoi oiliúint.

Beidh na scríbhneoirí faoi oiliúint ag scríobh script, i gcomhar le meantóir (duine do scríbhneoirí sinsearacha Ros na Rún), ag freastal ar na cruinnithe cuí agus ag leanacht na spriocdhátaí atá leagtha amach sa sceideal scripte. Ní obair lánaimseartha  a bheidh anseo ach caithfidh na scríbhneoirí faoi oiliúint a bheith ar fáil do na cruinnithe.  Socrófar tréimhse ama a fheileann don mheantóir agus don scríbhneoir. Íocfar liúntas beag leis an scríbhneoir faoi oiliúint don obair seo.

Má éiríonn go maith leis na scríbhneoirí, beidh seans acu bogadh ar aghaidh agus coimisiún a fháil chun script d’eipeasóid le craoladh, a scríobh do Ros na Rún.

Scriptwriting with Ros na Rún - Cúrsa Scríbhneoireachta Scripte le Ros na Rún

Course Overview:

Ros na Rún, in collaboration with Gréasán na Meán Skillnet, Coimisiún na Meán, and the National Talent Academy for Film & TV Drama, is running a scriptwriting course, to add to its panel of scriptwriters.

The lucky participants will be tutored by Bláthnaid Altaf, a former senior story writer with Ros na Rún. Bláthnaid has also worked on Fair City, Holby City, and as a mentor with Virgin Media Discovery. 

If you are a fluent Irish speaker, with an interest in scriptwriting, and are familiar with the world and characters of Ros na Rún, this is the course for you. This course will cover all aspects of scriptwriting, from structure to dialogue. Participants will work both individually and in groups. 

Following the initial course, a number of successful participants will have an opportunity to work as a shadow writer alongside a mentor (one of Ros na Rún’s senior writers), and in the future, there will be an opportunity to write a script for broadcast. 

The scriptwriting software, Final Draft 13, will be used during this course. Free temporary licenses for FD 13 will be provided to participants. 

Part 1 – Dates & Course Content

Day 1: Saturday 12th April 2025

- Time: 9.30am - 5.30pm

Day 2: Saturday 26th April 2025
- Place: On Zoom 
- Time: 9.30am - 5.30pm

Day 3: Saturday 10th May 2025
- Place: Ros na Rún, An Chuasnóg, Spiddal, Co. Galway
- Time: 9.30am - 5.30pm

Day 4: Saturday 17th May ’25 
- Place: On Zoom
- Time: 9.30am - 5.30pm

Homework: Half a script to be written & submitted by Friday 30th May. 

Feedback Meetings: June 2025  (On Zoom)

A half-day feedback session will take place with each participant.  A date/time that suits both the participant and the tutor will be arranged. Following the feedback sessions, participants will be asked to submit a second draft of the script. 

Part 2 – Trainee/Shadow Writing

After draft 2 of the scripts have been submitted, they will be analysed and a selected number of participants will be given the opportunity to move on and work as a shadow writer.

The shadow writers will write a shadow script, while being mentored by one of Ros na Rún’s senior writers. They will attend all relevant meetings and follow the deadlines set out in the scripting schedule. This work will be done remotely. It will not be a full-time job but the Shadow writers will need to be available to attend the relevant meetings. A time period that suits both the mentor and the shadow writer will be arranged. The shadow writer will be paid a small allowance for this work. 

If the shadow writers are successful, they will have the opportunity to move on and be commissioned to write a script for  Ros na Rún. 

Who Can Apply: 

Requirements:

An interest in screenwriting

Script writing experience is not essential but would be an advantage

Fluent Irish, of a high standard, both spoken and written

Good knowledge of Ros na Rún and the characters

A laptop, compatible with the software, Final Draft 13, will be required
