Talent Camp Odense is a week of masterclasses, workshops, and networking for emerging filmmakers from around the world, held during the Odense International Film Festival from Monday 25th to Saturday 30th August.

The camp is part of the Screen Talent Europe (STE) Network – a collaboration of 16 film workshops and media centres across nine countries, including Ardán and the National Talent Academy for Film & TV (NTAFT).

Each year, Talent Camp Odense accepts around 20 filmmakers aged 21–30, offering them one of the most intensive and formative weeks of their early careers. It’s an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build international networks, and explore the possibilities of European co-productions.

This year, Ardán and NTAFT were delighted to support two Irish creatives selected to represent Ireland at Talent Camp Odense: Colin Peppard (director/screenwriter) and Lauren Bateman (producer).

Both participants found the experience hugely rewarding. Colin reflected:

“I had such a fantastic time at the Talent Camp last week at OFF. The workshops and networking events were inspiring and invaluable, and I met so many amazing, talented people that I know I’ll stay connected with for years to come. Feeling really energised and grateful after such an incredible experience!”

Lauren added:

“I would highly recommend the Camp to anyone interested in filmmaking, especially in the writing, directing, or producing departments, as the week mainly focused on these areas. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of co-producing across countries, something I had never done before. I’ve made some invaluable contacts from the other campers and look forward to working with them in the future!”

About Screen Talent Europe:

Screen Talent Europe (STE) is a network of film workshops and media centres across Europe, currently consisting of 16 partners in 9 countries. Its mission is twofold:

To support and develop emerging filmmakers
STE provides opportunities for filmmakers to grow, connect, and collaborate through talent development programmes, including film production camps, pitching forums, networking events, and co-productions. With a strong belief in learning by doing, the network is always open to new ideas that strengthen international collaboration in the European filmmaking scene.

To promote and foster international collaboration among non-formal film workshops
For film organisations, STE offers a cross-border platform to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in non-formal talent development. Its goal is to enhance the workshop model and contribute to raising the standard of European audiovisual talent development.

Whether for filmmakers looking to develop their skills and expand their networks, or organisations interested in joining the mission, STE continues to build a stronger and more connected European filmmaking community.

More opportunities with Screen Talent Europe (STE) will open later this year. To stay up to date, make sure to join the NTA Film & TV newsletter or Ardán newsletter

The National Talent Academy for Film & TV is an initiative of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, managed by Ardán.
