Ireland’s First Queer Talent Database Officially Launches at GAZE International LGBTQIA Film Festival

Public invited to sign up and join the celebration at PRISMA Festival, Cork – August 30th

The Irish screen industry marked a historic moment yesterday with the official launch of the Queer Talent Database, the first of its kind in Ireland, designed to spotlight and connect LGBTQIA+ talent working across film and television. Spearheaded by cinematographer Alba Fernandez  (BOOBS, Night Glances) and supported by the National Talent Academy Film & TV Drama, the initiative aims to make queer representation in the industry more visible, accessible, and celebrated.

The launch took place as part of a special edition of Café au GAZE at GAZE International LGBTQIA Film Festival, featuring a powerful panel conversation on LGBTQIA+ storytelling and collaboration. Fernandez was joined by frequent collaborators Hiram Harrington (GLORYHOLE, OVERTONE) and Danilo Zambrano (BOOBS, DIRTY TALK) to share insights on working queer-to-queer and the value of authentic representation in all areas of production. The discussion also touched on Alba's recent mentorship from starGAZE with acclaimed cinematographer Kate McCullough (An Cailín Ciúin), reinforcing the need for supportive pathways in creative careers.

The launch was followed by a vibrant LGBTQIA+ networking reception, hosted by the National Talent Academies, bringing together filmmakers, crew, and industry professionals committed to inclusive storytelling and collaboration.
