National Talent Academy Film & TV is excited to collaborate with Eclipse Pictures Ireland’s longest established independent film distribution company, to bring you the ‘ECLIPSE INSIGHTS’. This series of events, spanning the next few months, feature a programme of short films, followed by Q&As with filmmakers and industry professionals, aimed and talks aimed to introduce and engage new diverse audiences, particularly younger people and next generation filmmakers.

The first of these events, which was held this month in Maynooth University, kicked off a series of initiatives designed to nurture and inspire a passion for film and challenge perceptions of social issues. At this event, Eclipse Pictures presented a selection of thought-provoking Irish short films including Wednesday's Child by Laura O'Shea, Nothing to Declare by Garret Daly, You're Not Home by Derek Ugochukwu, and Safe as Houses by Sarah Ahern. A Q&A session, hosted by writer / director Gemma Creagh took place with filmmakers and Tom Dowling of Hammerlake Studios who discussed possibilities of working within the industry in Mullingar in coming years.

With over 350 students joining the discussion and screening in Maynooth, The NTA Film & TV and Eclipse Pictures plan to continue this inspiring journey with two more events in the coming months, with details to be announced shortly.  The success of this event reflects the commitment of both organisations to fostering the next generation of filmmakers and expanding the horizons of young audiences.

“Congratulations on putting a great event together.  Pass on our thanks to all involved for sharing their experiences”

- John McDonagh, Maynooth Post Primary School, Maynooth, Co. Kildare
