Workshop with Vera Drew at TITE Film Festival

The NTA Film and TV is excited to support the inaugural TITE (Trans Image/Trans Experience) Film Festival. 

As part of TITE’s commitment to championing the craft of trans filmmakers, they are hosting a remote workshop with Vera Drew for a small number of Irish trans filmmakers to discuss craft, creativity and international collaboration with the award-winning director. Vera Drew will join online while participants will gather in Outhouse Red Room in person.  

Best known for writing, directing and starring in The People’s Joker (2022), Vera is a multi-hyphenate creative whose credits also include editing Alice Maio Mackay’s Aussie trans horror Carnage for Christmas (2024) and acting in Louise Weard’s Canadian underground trans epic Castration Movie Anthology i. Traps (2024).

This workshop will take place in the Outhouse Red Room (accessibility info) on April 26th at 17:00. 

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Be over the age of 18  
  • Identify as trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming  
  • Have an active interest in filmmaking (no professional experience required) 
  • Be able to attend the workshop in-person  
  • Be an Irish resident (including Northern Ireland)

About TITE:  

The inaugural TRANS IMAGE/TRANS EXPERIENCE (TITE) FILM FESTIVAL will take place from April 25-27, 2025, at the Light House Cinema. 

This year’s festival proudly presents eight feature films, 40 shorts, a workshop, filmmaker Q&As, and more to be announced. From award-winning Sundance favourites to low-budget DIY extravaganzas, soft-spoken dramas to hyperpop explosions, the lineup includes dozens of Irish premieres and a special archive screening from 1989. Whatever one envisions when thinking about "trans film," this festival invites a reconsideration.
