Join us 'Taking Flight, Take Two'  for an inspiring screenwriting session with Brock Norman Brock, the award-winning writer behind Bronson and The Mustang. 

This event is part of Taking Flight, a new initiative from the People’s Picturehouse Cork, supported by the National Talent Academy Film & TV. Designed to uplift local filmmakers, Taking Flight offers bi-monthly workshops and masterclasses featuring leading voices from the industry. 

In this session, Brock will share insights from his impressive career in screenwriting and development. Known for his bold, character-driven work, his credits include Yardie, The Marriage of Reason & Squalor, and Public Sex. His film The Mustang premiered at Sundance and holds a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 

Brock’s background also includes early success in theatre with his play Here Is Monster (nominated for the Verity Bargate Award), and a stint as a production executive at the UK Film Council, where he worked on acclaimed films such as The Constant Gardener, Gosford Park, and Vera Drake. He currently has projects in development with BBC Films, Fremantle, and Teashop. 

Whether you're a seasoned screenwriter or just starting out, this is a unique opportunity to learn from a writer with genuine industry experience and to connect with Cork’s growing community of filmmakers.

The People’s Picturehouse is a monthly short film showcase that started in 2023 and has since grown into a successful hub for exhibition, networking and filmmaking, drawing participants from a range of backgrounds and experiences, from first timers to professional practitioners. They’re proud to have partnered with other film organisations in Cork such as Cork International Film Festival, Indie Cork, Out of Frame, Prisma and Screen Cork.
