Stop-Motion Production Workshop (Part-Time)

 

The National Talent Academy for Animation is thrilled to launch our part-time Stop-Motion Production workshop with Studio 9.

 

Course Overview:

This is a part-time course where the participants will work in groups to make their own short stop-motion animation.  

Participants will learn how to develop concepts from prompt words and progress these ideas into a short story. We will then work with these stories to create scripts and storyboards that are suitable for stop-motion. 

From here, they will design characters and backgrounds and will learn how to build these as basic puppets and sets.

Finally, the groups will learn how to light the sets and animate the puppets to bring their short story to life.

 

Course Details:

Dates & Time: The course runs on a Thursday evening (6:30-9:00pm) and a full day Saturday (10am-4pm)over the following dates:

• Thurs 16th & Sat 18th of October

• Thurs 23rd & Sat 25th of October

• Thurs 30th of October & Sat 1st of November

• Thurs 20th & Sat 22nd of November

 

Animation, the weekend of:

• Sat 29th & Sun 30th of November - Group 1

• Sat 6th & Sun 7th of December - Group 2

 

Location: Studio 9, N9 North Great Georges St, Dublin 1, D01 P2N9.

Cost: There is no cost to the participants, but places are limited.

Places: 12.

Deadline: Monday, September 29th at 5pm.

 

Requirements:

Candidates must be a resident in Ireland and be available to attend each class in person in Dublin. 

This is an ambitious and experimental course with a lot to get through, so ideally, attendees will have some time to work on the project outside of course hours.
