Lunch & Learn Irish: Beyond Beginner is designed for crew working in the Irish screen industry who already have a basic understanding of Irish and would like to move beyond beginner level. The course supports participants in strengthening their confidence, fluency, and comprehension, while encouraging more consistent and natural use of the language.

 

Building on existing knowledge, participants will develop greater ease with sentence structure, verb usage, and listening comprehension, with a focus on extending vocabulary and sustaining conversation. Sessions will explore practical, real-world Irish, including language relevant to working environments and Irish-language productions.

 

Delivered in a supportive and informal setting, the course emphasises active listening, pronunciation refinement, and speaking practice, helping participants move from recognition to confident usage.

 

The Lunch & Learn format allows participants to deepen their Irish in manageable weekly sessions, without the pressure of intensive homework, making it well suited to busy industry professionals seeking steady progression

Crew working in the Irish Screen Industry who already have a foundational understanding of Irish and are looking to build fluency, improve confidence, and increase their opportunities to work in Irish-language and bilingual environments.

Tutor Profile:

Patricia Nic Eoin

Patricia Nic Eoin has worked with some of the biggest names in language learning, including the Michel Thomas Method and the Olly Richards Language Learning Series, and has been teaching Irish to adults for over five years. Drawing on this extensive experience, Patricia developed Structured Irish, a unique and practical methodology designed to help learners speak Irish with confidence.

 

Structured Irish focuses on understanding the structure of the language rather than memorising rules or vocabulary. By devoting a little extra time to learning how Irish works, learners build a solid foundation that clears up much of the confusion often experienced with other methods. The approach incorporates songs, poems, and practice conversations to help students internalise the sounds, rhythm, and flow of Irish naturally.

 

A qualified solicitor, Patricia has also worked with TG4 and the European Commission in Brussels, where they were involved in translating legal documents into Irish. In addition, Patricia has written a series of children’s books in Irish and translated numerous titles from French and English.
