Leitrim Networking Event with Adaptation Film Festival

The National Talent Academies Film & TV are thrilled to be hosting a Networking Event at the 10th edition of the Adaptation Film Festival in Leitrim.

Adaptation Film Festival focuses on the filmmaking community in the Northwest region. For this event, Eibh O’Brien-Collins from the NTA Film & TV and Lorraine Higgins from NTA Crew west will outline the new initiatives particularly aimed at writers, directors, producers and crew, while Johnny Gogan will outline forthcoming plans for the Creative Heartlands project.

We are also thrilled to showcase Emma Brennan's proof of concept, ‘Puppet Tears’, as part of this event. Emma was one of the successful recipients of the 2022 Directors Lab fund, which is designed to support emerging diverse directors in the early stages of their careers.

About Puppet Tears:

Puppet Tears is a scene adapted and directed by Emma Brennan from the play of the same title by writer, actor and puppeteer Conor Lambert who stars in the film. Shot with a budget of 5K as part of the NTA Director’s Lab Award 2022, the 3-minute scene explores the themes of mental health, family breakdown and the solitary life of an artist. Shot in Co. Roscommon where both Emma (native) and Conor have strong connections, the creative team included cinematographer Aidan Gault and regional crew Niall Flynn (lighting, gaffer) and Patrick O’Rourke (sound). Johnny Gogan from Creative Heartlands was also present to support the project. The scene was edited in San Francisco by Ian Montgomery.
