Introduction to Set Building for Stop-Motion
The National Talent Academy for Animation is thrilled to launch our Introduction to Set Building for Stop-Motion workshop with Studio 9.
Course Overview:
This course focuses on learning how to build an interior set specifically for stop-motion animation. By the end of this week-long course, participants will have learned the necessary skills to build and decorate a small set that is suitable for professional stop-motion animation, and that you can take home with you.
Participants will learn how to:

Convey the emotions or atmosphere you want from the set.

Construct a set based on your storyboard and camera angles.

Build wooden supports for walls so set is secure and can be assembled or disassembled easily.

Build cardboard walls with windows and doors.
-
Build a floor with floorboards or tiles.
-
How to use false perspective to make the set look bigger.

Painting techniques.
-
Miniature furniture and plants.

Curtains and soft furnishings.
Course Details:
Dates: Monday July 21st - Friday July 25th 2025
Time: 10:00am - 4:00pm.
Location: Studio 9, N9 North Great Georges St, Dublin 1, D01 P2N9.
Cost: There is no cost to the participants, but places are limited.
Places: 12.
Deadline: Friday, July 4th at 5pm.
Requirements:
Candidates must be a resident in Ireland and be available to attend each class in person in Dublin.
