This course provides a broad introduction to camera department for unscripted productions, combining foundational learning with practical studio and location experience. It focuses on professional working practices, effective collaboration within production teams, and the core skills expected of camera assistants.

Participant Profile:

This course is ideal for emerging and experienced videographers looking to move into multi camera studio shows or sports broadcasts, reality obs-docs and entertainment programme opportunities.

Equipment for this course is kindly provided in collaboration with NEP Ireland.

Tutor Profiles:

Diarmuid Galvin has over a decade of experience in the television industry. After extensive training, he started as a Camera Assistant and swiftly advanced to operating cameras, jibs, and remote camera systems. His work spans a variety of genres, including light entertainment, live music, sporting events, and various ceremonies, both in Ireland, the UK, and internationally. In addition to his professional work, Diarmuid has spent the past 10 years conducting workshops to help upskill trainees in the TV and film industry

Peter Corrigan has worked in the Broadcast Industry for over 35 years. He has worked for all the major broadcasters in Ireland and England, including RTE and the BBC as well as a huge number of US broadcasters. Peter is the President of the new Broadcast Professionals Guild of Ireland and the head of Broadcast Professionals Union Group.
