Course Profile:

This in-person course is run by the National Talent Academies: Film & TV Crew Academy South in Collaboration with Odyssey Studios.  The aim of the course is to equip participants with the practical skills and safety knowledge required to design and fabricate camera-ready Hero props and matching stunt versions for film and TV productions. The course will share details on how to design, and fabricate a Hero quality film prop and matching stunt version using a series of moulding and casting techniques. Also cover the production of multiples of items or ‘’repeats’’ as they are called when a prop is liable to break during a stunt performance. Learning to fabricate a camera-ready Hero prop and matching Stunt prop.

• Health and Safety

• Materials and Equipment

• Conceptual design

• Fabrication techniques

• Mould making – Two part moulds

• Resin casting and casting multiples

• Action interpretation and stunt safety considerations

• Soft prop fabrication. Mould skinning, armature work, foam densities

• Painting, paint matching, ageing and weathering

 

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at new entrants looking to gain the necessary skills for junior level model making positions for film and tv, and for model makers looking to enhance their skills in stunt prop fabrication.
