Course Profile:
This course will run over two consecutive days;
This course is run by the National Talent Academies: Film & TV Crew Academy East, developed in collaboration with the Irish Hair Guild. The aim of the course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to create period up-styles using hairpieces, as required by the Film & TV Drama industry.
Participants will need to bring the following tools and materials to attend the course; Hairbrushes, tail-comb, heated rollers, hot-sticks, hair tongs (various sizes). Participants will also need to supply a model for themselves for both days – the model should have shoulder length hair. The same model can be used for both days.
Course Content:
- The history of up-styles down through the centuries.
- How to prep hair for doing an up-style.
- Learn how to use the tools and materials needed to create up-styles.
- How to create up-styles the easy and quick way.
- Learn about and how to do 18th/ 19th /20th Centuries up-styles.
Course Outcomes:
Participants will be come away with a broad knowledge of the history of period up-styles through the different centuries. They will be familiar with the techniques, products, tools and materials used to do period and modern up-styles.
Participant Profile:
This 2 day period & modern up-style course is aimed at Junior Hairdressers & Hairdressers working in the Film & TV Drama Industry, plus aspiring new entrant qualified Hairdressers who want to start working in the Film and TV Drama Industry.
The course is limited to 8 participants

Tutor Profile:
Sandra Kelly has worked in the TV & Film Industry for over 29 years. She trained in Peter Mark Hair Creation on Grafton Street, Dublin. Sandra travelled for 4 years in which she worked in salons all over the world doing fashion, TV, commercial and magazine work, returning to Ireland start a career in the Hair Dept in Film & TV - Braveheart was her first feature film.
Sandra has worked on many Film & TV Productions; LoveHate, Raw , Sing Street, Little Women, King Arthur, Winx Club Saga, and Normal People - to name a few.
Sandra has been expertly trained in every aspect of hair, especially textured hair, wigs, extensions, hairpieces/wefts, and up-styles. She is a qualified Hairdresser and also teaches Level 6 Junior/Senior Trade. She is looking forward to passing on these skills.
