Course Content:

 

  • Requirements and practical application of legislation, relevant standard, IET guidance and related industry guidance for ABTT and PLASA

  • The role earth plays in electrical safety

  • The application of different electrical protection methods

  • Testing and inspection of equipment and temporary systems

  • Managing temporary electrical systems in accordance with BS 7909

  • Generator operation and housekeeping and supply arrangements in mobile and transportable units.

 

The course consists of written theory assessments as well as a practical one and is taught in a modular format with an open-book assessment at the end of each module. The assessments consist of a mix of short written questions/answers and multiple choice questions. There is also a practical where candidates will demonstrate to the assessor their skills of observation of electrical inspection and also demonstrate testing of electrical systems using equipment supplied by the tutor. Successful candidates will be awarded a city and guilds assured digital badge. This gives employers concise yet details information about your competencies achieved on this course.

This course is run in collaboration with Screen Kerry and the Dawn Workshops at Kerry College Monavalley Campus.

James is a Chartered Engineer who has worked in the events and allied sectors for over 25 years, developing a wealth of knowledge in electrical and control systems engineering. James has project engineered a number of systems for clients such as Royal Caribbean International, P&O and Tussauds.
