Course Profile:

This course will run over 2 evenings midweek.

This course aims to give participants an overview of the financial elements freelance screen crew members need to consider and understand to navigate their professional and private lives to create as many options for financial security as possible.

Day One: Establishing the Foundation - Managing Cash Flow and Tax Compliance as a Freelancer

1. Understanding the income structure of a freelance worker and the mindset surrounding it. This includes normalising variable income, the concept of income allocation over budgeting, and setting clear, measurable goals.

2. Introducing a practical budgeting system, discussing various income sources, and strategies to eliminate or reduce expenses.

3. Understanding the tax differences between self-employed individuals and employees, and how to save money to cover tax obligations.

Day Two: Protecting Your Future - Pensions, Life Protections, Debt Management, and Mortgage Readiness

1. An in-depth explanation of pensions and their impact on participants' futures.

2. An overview of various types of debt and strategies for debt repayment.

3. How to prepare for a mortgage, from saving money to understanding what financial institutions look for in applicants.

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at crew members across all departments and grades who want to understand how to navigate the financial aspects of their life as freelance screen crew member.
