Course Profile:

This course will run over one day on both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October 2023.

This in-person session aims to give participants an overview of the financial elements freelance screen crew need to consider and understand to navigate their professional and private life to create as many options for financial security as possible.

  • Preparing to apply for a mortgage.
  • Mortgage application process.
  • Budgeting planning .
  • Where and how to save money. How to get your money working for you.
  • Family Protection (Income Protection/ Critical Illness/ Life Cover).
  • Tax Planning.
  • Tax Advice.
  • Retirement Planning.
  • Importance of credit rating.

*PLEASE NOTE, this course is high level. If you are looking for an in-depth course on tax for freelancers both the NTAs and Screen Ireland run a separate course titled ‘Managing your Tax as a Freelancer’. This is NOT that course. This course covers a broader spectrum of financial considerations for a freelancer.

Participant Profile:

This course is aimed at crew members across all departments and grades who want to understand how to navigate the financial aspects of their life as freelance screen crew member.

Tutor Profile:

Garreth Kelly is the owner of Public and Private Financial Planners. He is a Certified Financial Planner with qualifications of a  BA Hons Business Studies , Grad Diploma Financial Services, Specialist Investment Advisor and Qualified Financial Advisor  

He has been working in Financial Services for the past 25 years across Investment Banking, Mortgages , Financial Product Distribution and Personal Financial planning.  

Garreth specialise in helping people achieve their financial goals be that buying a home, saving for retirement, their children's education or putting  a safety net in place for the rainy days. A big part of what he does is educating clients on what is the best plan for them and their families.
