Final Draft: Two-Day Online Training Course
National Talent Academy Film & TV Drama, with Dewi Griffiths, present a two-day online course for above the line filmmakers who wish to gain a proficient grasp of Final Draft.
Final Draft is the world’s leading script-writing software, used by 95% of productions in Hollywood and the industry standard software here in Europe. It is a specialised software essential for scriptwriting and screenwriting, offering features for creating, formatting, and collaborating on scripts, and making it an invaluable tool for professionals in high-end TV and film.
While hands-on experience can build basic familiarity of the software, fully learning its advanced features in a structured and supportive environment can be of great benefit to filmmakers.
This two-day comprehensive course is aimed at Directors, Script Editors, Producers and Writers who wish to expand their skillset and streamline their writing process and story planning.
Over the course of the two days, Dewi Griffiths will cover a range of topics, including:
- Setting up the software to save your ongoing drafts
- Choosing the best template for your script
- Setting up revisions including coloured pages
- Using the navigator to track character arcs.
- Creating script notes
- Document management – scene numbering, headers and footers
- Locking pages
Tutor Profile:
Dewi has trained film and TV professionals worldwide for over twenty years in Final Draft, Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting. As a Producer running his own company, Dewi utilised Final Draft as a writer, script editor and with his production teams, making Final Draft, Movie Magic Scheduling and Budgeting workflows central on all of his productions. He continues to help set up such workflows in major BBC and independent television projects.
Dates/Duration:
The two-day course will take place online from 10th –11th September, from 10am - 2:30pm each day.
Who Can Apply:
Applicants must be out of education (full time or part time) and 18+
This course is recommended for newcomers to Final Draft. This course is designed (only) for:
- Writers
- Script Editors
- Producers
- Directors

If you don’t have Final Draft, we will ask you to download a free trial version, but don’t do this until the first day of your course.
