Filmmaking Fundamentals with Irish Deaf Society & Deaf Village Ireland 

Irish Deaf Society & Deaf Village Ireland, in association with The National Academy Film and TV, are thrilled to announce an in-person two-day filmmaking workshop. 

This course, led by Jaro Waldeck, offers valuable insights into the creative and technical aspects of the filmmaking process with a focus on the craft of filmmaking and editing. Over two days, Saturday September 30th  and Saturday October 7th, in the Deaf Village in Cabra, participants will learn about a wide variety of script to screen essentials such as shot listing, storyboarding and composition. 

This unique workshop places a strong emphasis on making filmmaking and editing accessible to Deaf individuals.  

 

Dates/Duration: 

This course will take place over two weekends on Saturday September 30th and Saturday October 7th (10:00am to 6:00pm).  

 

Who Can Apply: 

This workshop is only for people part of the deaf community who wish to make a career out of filmmaking or editing.

About Irish Deaf Society: 

The Irish Deaf Society (IDS) is the only national Deaf-led representative organisation of the Deaf, and it serves the interests and welfare of the Deaf community. It provides several education, personal and social services to Deaf children, adults, and their families. Deaf Village Ireland is an inclusive state of the art social, administration, religious, community, sports, heritage, and educational complex providing a range of facilities for both Deaf and hearing people. The Deaf Village Ireland is a collaborative organisation represented by all Deaf organisations in Dublin. 

 

About Jaro Waldeck: 

Jaro Waldeck is an accomplished Director of Photography (DOP) with a Master of Arts in Cinematography from FAMU Prague and a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video from Columbia College Chicago. She is also a member of the Czech Society of Cinematographers and serves as Vice Chair of Women in Film and TV Ireland. Jaro has worked closely with the Deaf Village community in Cabra over the last year working on varied film projects.
