Course Profile:
This course will run over 1 day on a weekend
Film & TV Crew Academy West is managed by Atlantic Academy.
This in-person session would aim to give participants an overview of the casting process and skills needed to become a casting assistant. This course will cover the ins and outs of casting leading and supporting roles across TV, Film, Commercials and Theatre. It will not cover extras casting.
Course content:
- Casting industry overview
- The role of the Casting Director
- How a casting office works
- Working with talent agents, production teams and young performers
- Breaking down scripts for auditions
- Casting platforms and creating casting calls
- Setting up auditions
- Audition etiquette
- Camera skills and video sharing platforms
- Making offers and booking talent
Participant Profile:
This course will be aimed at those who have an interest in learning more about the world of casting for TV, Theatre, Film & Commercials with a view to becoming a casting assistant.
The course is limited to 8 participants

Tutor Profile:
Clare McGinley and Emma Wall have previously worked as casting associates in London and Ireland and now work for Spotlight Ireland in the casting and agent department. Between them their casting credits as assistant/associate in TV & Film include Homeland, Love/Hate, Professor & The Madman, Shadowdancer and This Must Be The Place. Commercial work for Vodafone, Aer Lingus, McDonalds and many more, as well as various theatre credits for Druid, Abbey Theatre, and Olympia Theatre.
