Course Profile:

The aim of this in-person practical course is to provide participants with the key skills to develop the confidence and capacity to deliver compelling and influential presentations with a focus on storytelling.

Crew who have completed this training will be invited to apply to be part of the NTA’s panel of crew industry speakers.

This course complements Train the Trainer and is the second session of our Presentation and Course Development Programme but can also be taken as a standalone course and is applied for separately.

Course Content:

During the course, the focus will be on the importance of knowing your audience, the impact of body language and how visual aids and storytelling can increase the impact of the message and captivate your audience. The course will be a one-stop shop for delivering clear, confident and meaningful presentations.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

• Use impactful visual aids to support their message
• Know how to control nerves and appear highly confident
• Know how to distill and craft key messages
• Recognise the link between their communication style and the impact that it can have on others
• Appreciate why telling a compelling story is so vital to success
• Gauge audience engagement and adapt their presentations to suit
• Identify key areas they need to work on to improve their presentation skills

Participant Profile:

This course is ideal for crew members across all departments and grades who are enthused to share their industry insight, knowledge, and experience with aspiring new entrants to the Screen Sector.  Crew members who have completed Train the Trainer will be given priority.

Tutor Profile:

Danielle O’Connell

Danielle is a designer and creative director with over 15 years in the industry and a passion for teaching visual communication at the third level.

As the owner of Good as Gold, a multidisciplinary digital agency, she blends art direction, UX, and design strategy with business management. Since 2016, she has taught part-time at IADT, guiding students across all years of the Visual Communication course in design thinking and problem-solving. She is dedicated to equipping the next generation of designers with the skills to thrive in a fast-changing industry.

Noel Davidson

Noel is Head of Training & Strategic Partnerships at the Entrepreneurs Academy with expertise in the areas of Leadership, Communication Skills, Social Media, E-Marketing, Information Technology, Sales & Marketing, Business Planning & Strategy, Business Models, Productivity and Improvement, Creativity & Innovation, Networking and Business Pitching.

Noel has over 30 years experience in person-facing roles in a number of industries including confectionary, hospitality, horticulture, retail and leisure.

Passionate about helping people build their influence with others, Noel has trained in the USA under New York Times No. 1 best-selling author and leadership expert, John C. Maxwell. Noel is certified by John Maxwell to deliver licensed content in the areas of Leadership and Communication on behalf of the Entrepreneurs Academy.
