The National Talent Academy for VFX is excited to offer 12 participants a place on this masterclass with Josh Parks.
The masterclass runs for 4 weeks, with 1-hour online live sessions each Thursday evening. During these sessions, the student is taken through the week's training topic, followed by weekly check-ins and feedback on assignments via email.
Course Content:
Week 1- Keying
Learning outcome: Understand how to extract alphas from a greenscreen shot and how to combine alpha channels. Providing students with multiple methods for creating alpha channels from greenscreen shots.
Week 2-Despill/edge treatment
Learning outcome: Understand how to fix the edges of their greenscreen shots, giving the student several options to despill and fix edge issues, as well as how to combine these techniques.
Week 3-Additive keying and other tricks
Learning outcome: Feeling comfortable using more advanced keying techniques to extract tricky details such as fine hair and defocused edges. Understand that details can be extracted without an alpha.
Week 4- Keying test
Learning outcome: Participants will be given the opportunity to work on a greenscreen key to industry standard under the supervision of the tutor, allowing time for questions and feedback.
Course Objectives:
The course takes the student through the whole process of working on a greenscreen VFX shot using Nuke, covering all the fundamental skills needed to work on and create high-end episodic/advertising and film shots that they would be expected to tackle working in the industry.
Participant Profile:
The course is designed for emerging talent familiar with creating images in software, such as Photoshop, Premiere, or After Effects. It provides the necessary VFX compositing tools and techniques to deliver high-end VFX greenscreen shots using Nuke.
