The Animation Mentorship Programme (Fourth Edition)

The NTAA is delighted to launch our fourth Animation Mentorship Programme, offering support in 6 key areas of animation production:

 

  • Scriptwriting 

  • Storyboarding

  • 2D Design

  • Producing for Animation 

  • Audio Post Production

  • VFX

 

The programme provides one-to-one guidance with industry experts over a 3 month period (June - August ‘24) and is open to graduates, professionals and those who are considering moving into animation from another sector.

 

The programme welcomes mentees from underrepresented groups, diverse backgrounds and regional areas.

 

Key Details 

  • Closing date for applications: Monday 27th May at 12pm.

  • Mentorships run from June - August 2024.

  • Up to 10 hours of Mentoring over the 3 month period.

MENTOR BIOGRAPHIES:

 

Danny Stack - Scriptwriting

Danny is a writer and director specialising in the kids/family genre, across animation and live-action. His animation credits include PJ Masks, Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, Thunderbirds Are Go, Hey Duggee, Octonauts and The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers amongst many others. Danny’s writing/directing debut (in collaboration with Tim Clague) was the live-action family film Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? It had its world premiere at the prestigious BFI London Film Festival, and is available to view worldwide on various streaming platforms. Danny & Tim’s second live-action family film is the sci-fi adventure, Future TX. They created, produced and directed Dog Years, a live-action pre-school series, which is currently streaming worldwide.

 

Patricia Ross - Storyboarding

Patricia Ross is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area and has worked in the animation industry since 1999. She studied Illustration at the San Francisco Academy of Art, classical animation at Ballyfermot College For Further Education, Dublin, and 3D Character Animation with AnimationMentor.com. She has worked as a Storyboard Artist and Storyboard Supervisor since 2004, and found that it is the perfect combination of all of these disciplines. Her CV includes as many names of Irish studios as American ones, and she is a frequent visitor to Ireland. Most recently, Patricia finished a long form project at DreamWorks, and is currently working with Rough Draft Studios on a Netflix series.

 

Antonio Terlizzi - 2D Design

Antonio Terlizzi is an Art Director with over 15 years of experience in the animation industry. He has an Animation diploma from the Italian National Film School, and with almost a decade spent working in Boulder Media (Dublin), he is a veteran in the Irish Animation Industry. He has worked in supervising roles across the Art Departments of many international productions including BBC’s Danger Mouse, Disney’s Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja, Transformers RBA and Hasbro’s My Little Pony: Pony Life (pitched on behalf of Boulder Media). He is currently working as Art Director for Pictor Productions (Ireland), in the incoming RTE show “Flix” from Tomi Ungerer.

 

Méabh McGovern - Producing for Animation

Méabh started her career in commercials 28 years ago at Saatchi & Saatchi in London. 8 years later she left adland for kids preschool and has been making shows ever since. Méabh was co-owner of Mooshku for 7 years and has worked as Producer for Jam Media and Brown Bag Films before joining Kavaleer at the end of 2022. Méabh has produced for Apple, BBC, Disney/ABC, RTE and Nickelodeon. Méabh was co-creator and Producer of Tot Cop (Nickelodeon) which won an IAA for Best Animation in Interactive and Gaming in 2021. Over the last 10 years Méabh has served on committees including Women In Animation (Co-chair), Women in Film and Television (Board member), Irish Animation Awards (Co-chair) and European Animation Awards (Irish Ambassador).

 

Pa Lynch - Audio Post Production

Pa is an experienced, creative and motivated audio post production engineer providing all aspects of audio creation, design and implementation for various types of production. He has many yearʼs experience in Music and Audio Production in the UK and Ireland. Pa returned to education as a mature student and completed a BA in Music Technology with First Class Honours in 2022.

 

Tim Morris - VFX

Tim's first job was for the Theatre Projects Group in Covent Garden London, where he was part of the design team overseeing the technical installation of The National Theatre of Great Britain in the Southbank centre. He returned to Dublin in 1979 and was a founding member of Windmill Lane Pictures, Ireland’s largest Post Production Facility Company. During the 80’s Tim was first a Telecine colourist, then an editor and finally a Henry online effects specialist. In the early nineties he was part of the project team that set up The Mill facility company in London, which later went on to win a VFX Oscar for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. In the past few years Tim has specialised as a VFX and Post Production/Supervisor/Producer as well as heading up Windmill Lane’s Feature post production and VFX division.
